The TechnoCentre éolien participates in the first market study on wind energy in cold climates

  • The TechnoCentre éolien is pleased to announce its participation in the very first market study dedicated to wind energy in cold climates. Indeed, a special chapter dealing with this
    subject was published in the BTM World Market Update 2012 Report released last month by Navigant Research. The study looks at the challenges posed by northern climates and identifies wind-related opportunities in cold climate markets. The report reveals that of the 11.5 GW of world capacity currently installed in areas where moderate to high icing conditions occur, 66 percent are concentrated in North America, with 22 percent located in Eastern Canada and 14 percent in Québec alone.

  • “Proud of our success: Ready for the future” is the theme of the Québec’s 6th Wind Energy Conference to be held on June 18, 19 and 20, 2012, at the Gaspé Peninsula Convention Centre in Carleton-sur-Mer. Some 300 participants are expected to attend this unique event which has become a prime venue for meetings and knowledge-sharing among the major players in Quebec’s wind energy sector. Five major topics will be discussed: Current events in Québec’s wind energy industry, Technological trends and innovations, Northern climate, Operation and maintenance, Wind Energy Development: In step with the Plan Nord.

The TechnoCentre éolien inaugurates Canada’s tallest weather mast

  • The TechnoCentre éolien is proud to announce the commissioning of Canada’s tallest weather mast at its Site nordique expérimental en éolien CORUS (SNEEC) in Rivière-au-Renard. Standing 126 metres in height, the mast is equipped with more than 30 weather sensors, located at some fifteen different heights.

  • The TechnoCentre éolien will soon be moving to its new premises in the Technical Hall on the Gaspé Campus of the Cégep de la Gaspésie et des Îles located at 70 Rue Bolduc in Gaspé. Our new office will officially open on February 27, 2012. This move will allow the TechnoCentre éolien to house all its employees at the same place.
