Responsibilities: 

Under the supervision of the director of health & safety, the coordinator will help the director current procedures and policies related to health, safety, and the environment, analyze accidents and incidents and help complete audits. 

• Eliminate potential risks and hazards at the plant and in manufacturing processes.

• Look into workplace accidents, investigate and take appropriate corrective and preventive action.

• Carry out administrative tasks related to the position, such as ordering safety equipment.

• Provide an overview of hazardous material loss and ensure hazardous materials are properly handled and stored.

• Provide employees with occupational health and safety training as needed.

• Update LMPS tables daily at the plant and entry date into HSE systems.

• Discussing safety issues with plant personnel (concerns, changes to protocol, etc.). 

• Manage hazardous waste program and communicate hazardous waste info and shipments to Department of Health.

• E-mail communication within plant regarding incident reports, regulatory information, etc.

• Interact with/seek out vendors and suppliers for various safety-related equipment.

• Provide regulatory support to production and maintenance personnel.

• Monitor plant operations to ensure safety protocols are adhered to with the goal to reduce TCIR.

• Reduce Hazardous Waste through improvements in chemical handling procedures.

• Minimize citations (OSHA, EPA) by identifying issues and implementing solutions.

• Maximize efficiency of First Responder program.

• Ensure training requirements are met for SIMDUTteams and First Responders.

• Monitor plant operations to ensure safety protocols are adhered to with the goal to reduce TCIR.

• Reduce Hazardous Waste through improvements in chemical handling procedures.

• Minimize citations by identifying issues and implementing solutions.

• Maximize efficiency of First Responder program.

• Ensure training requirements are met for SIMDUTteams and First Responders.

• Authorizing contractors for work inside the plant. 

 Desired skills: 

• Relevant training or experience in the field of prevention and health and safety programs.

• Capacity for employee engagement to achieve objectives.

• Positive attitude and leadership.

• Experience in managing staff and work teams.

 • Bilingual.

• Knowledge of the company’s manufacturing processes and procedures (a plus).
